Last week we had Tanabata and Japanese culture day that was held on Friday. Because of this we scheduled one of our Japanese lessons on Monday in order for the students to make Tanzaku that they can put on a branch we have in the class.
Here are the Tanzaku that the students made
And here is the Tanabata tree we had in our classroom for the week.
On the day of the Tanabata event all the students dressed up in Japanese culture clothing, even I did. The students had Nagashi Somen which they tried to catch the somen with chopsticks while it was going going down a half-pipe. It was super fun to watch them do it.
Here are some pictures!
In the afternoon there were game stations set up that each student could go to, they even had face painting. Here are some pictures of everyone having fun!
Japanese Cuture day and the week leading up to it was quite exciting. I think everyone had a lot of fun getting to know Japanese culture.
Update!
as you may know, we have a new student in our classroom. Her name is Kinryo and she comes from China. Let us all have a warm welcome to Kinryo, our new addition to PreK A.
Just a reminder that parent/teacher conference will be held on the 26th. I look forward to talking with you.
Stay tuned next week
